Thai Yoga Therapy can be traced back more than 2,500 years to the Buddha’s personal physician, Shivago Komarpaj. Traditionally practiced in a temple, Thai Yoga sessions are considered to be a practical expression of “metta,” the Buddhist practice of loving-kindness. There is influence from the Indian Ayurvedic system as well as the Chinese culture and Thailand. All three of these cultures share the belief that energy flows through the body in pathways, which directly affect our health and the integrity of our body system.
The healing techniques of Thai Yoga Therapy combine acupressure, energy work, stretching, joint mobilization and a series of assisted yoga postures to unblock the major “sen,” or energy channels, in the body. Thai Yoga Therapy releases tensions and blocked energy, relaxes sore muscles, increases muscle flexibility, increases joint mobility and can be therapeutic for a number of physical and emotional conditions. It is often referred to as the “lazy man’s yoga”, as the therapist puts the client into various yoga positions.
You do not have to be a yoga student or taking yoga classes to have a Thai Yoga Session. Stretches are soothing and never more than each client can handle. You remain fully clothed during this treatment, please wear loose flexible clothing; long pants and sleeves.

All yoga is therapeutic, but not all yoga is yoga therapy!
Yoga Treatments are applications of yoga practices to treat anatomical, physiological and mental or emotional conditions. Private Yoga treatment classes are designed for the individual who has a special need. Private Yoga is often a great option for those completing physical therapy. The structure may range from a basic yoga class to a class emphasizing a special goal – such as relieving back pain.
WHAT IS REIKI?
Reiki is an art of hand healing originated in Japan by Mikao Usui (1865-1926) in 1922. Reiki is an energy healing or natural therapy carried out by placing hands near the body. By doing so this energy awakens the natural healing ability of a person who receives it. Reiki also works not only for physical health but also for psychological health. For the past decades, it has been very popular in the Western countries, in Europe and in the U.S. It has become recognized as an important effective alternative healing medicine.
The large majority (99%) of Reiki currently being practiced in Japan is Western style Reiki even though Reiki originally comes from Japan. At one point, it was believed that Western style Reiki was the only surviving Reiki and that there were no longer any practitioners in Japan. In truth, there have always been Reiki successors in Japan. One of the students was Chiyoko Yamaguchi, who learned Reiki directly from the direct disciple of Mikao Usui, Chujiro Hayashi. Chiyoko Yamaguchi started teaching with her son Tadao Yamaguchi with the name Jikiden Reiki (direct teaching of
Chujiro Hayashi) in Japan.
